About Dr. You
Sunhay You is a transnational feminist scholar who examines the political and ethical implications of Asian/American cultural formations and phenomena, especially as they articulate erotic desires and pleasures. She is currently working on a monograph tentatively titled The Shadow Erotic, which questions how Asian women ghosts circulate on a transnational and diasporic scale as erotically unfulfilled figures. She has also written for Post45 Contemporaries to address the uncanny popularity and enjoyment of South Korean dystopian cinema in the US. Growing out of her research interests, her teaching provides students with a transnational and feminist orientation to Asian American literature and studies. Her pedagogy privileges student-led and community-based learning in which students get to apply what they learn in the classroom to ask questions about what lies beyond it.
